$100 Bill Nips Joan Crawford’s Son’s Excursion

Young Christopher Crawford, son of honeymooning Actress Joan Crawford, yesterday was home again – all because he had too much money.

Christopher, 12, was reported to the Los Angeles police as a missing juvenile when he disappeared from the actress’ West Los Angeles home Friday morning.

He was located Friday evening by Palos Verdes police after he tried to change a $100 bill in a liquor store. The owner, suspicious, called police who arrived and discovered another $100 in the boy’s pocket.

Family friends said Christopher had been attending a school in the San Fernando Valley while Miss Crawford is spending a honeymoon in Europe with her fourth husband, A.N. Steele, soft drink magnate.

It was the third time Christopher has been reported a runaway. Twice in 1951 the boy, then 9, was located by police after he set out on exploratory trips.
